Baby Dedication

Celebrating God's Gift, Committing to God's Way

What's Partnership?

Partnership is the pathway to step deeper into the life and mission of New Hope. It’s more than joining a group—it’s choosing to link arms with our church family in unity, purpose, and shared responsibility. As a Partner, you embrace the vision God has given our church, use your gifts to strengthen the body, and commit to helping us reach Plymouth County and beyond with the gospel.

What's Baby Dedication?

Baby Dedication at New Hope Chapel is a sacred and joyful moment in which parents publicly commit to raise their child in the ways of Jesus Christ. It is not a baptism or declaration of salvation for the child. Rather, it is a spiritual act of dedication by the parent(s), witnessed by the church, in alignment with the biblical model of family discipleship.

Why We Dedicate Children

We dedicate children because Scripture calls parents—and the church—to pass the faith to the next generation. In the Bible, families present their children to God and commit to raising them according to His ways (1 Sam. 1; Luke 2). Baby Dedication follows this pattern: parents acknowledge their child as a gift from God, commit to lead them in the way of Jesus, and invite the church to support them. It’s a simple but meaningful act of faith, expressing our desire to see every child grow to know, love, and follow Christ.

How Can I become a Partner?

What comes with Partnership?

By becoming a Partner, you step deeper into the life of the church. Partners participate in Partners Meetings, where we share vision, direction, and important updates about the ministry. With this greater level of commitment and accountability also comes a greater level of opportunity — including roles like Life Group leading, certain serve team positions, and other leadership opportunities reserved for those who have taken this step.

Baby Dedication Commitments

  • Parents commit to raising their child according to the teachings of Scripture—teaching them who Jesus is, praying with and for them, involving them in the life of the church, and guiding them toward a personal faith in Christ.

  • Parents agree to raise their child within a biblical Christian worldview and in alignment with the core beliefs of New Hope Chapel.

  • Parents commit to participating in the life of the church—worship, community, and discipleship—so their child grows up surrounded by the people of God and shaped by the rhythms of Christian faith.

  • At least one parent must be an active follower of Jesus—regularly pursuing spiritual growth through Scripture, prayer, and Christian community. If only one parent is a believer, that parent carries this commitment while the other agrees not to hinder the child’s Christian upbringing. If you’re new to faith or still being grounded in the basics, we encourage you to go through the Following Jesus course to build a strong foundation.

  • At least one parent must complete all four weeks of Growth Track. This helps families understand New Hope’s beliefs, values, and mission so we can work together in raising their child to know and follow Jesus.

  • Believing parents must be baptized as followers of Jesus. This reflects obedience to Christ and models a life of discipleship for their child.
